Torosovo (1870’s) | Volosovskij rajon

Estate of Baron M.V. Vrangel, governor of Finland. The Vrangel family had several remarkable members, including brothers Nikolaj Nikolaevich—who did a good deal of research and documentation of estates in Russia—and Pjotr Nikolaevich, the White Army’s last general (died in 1928 under mysterious circumstances in Belgium, where he was still maintaining a 70,000-strong force). After the revolution, Torosovo became an orphanage, and was abandoned sometime in the 1970’s.
